Please remember Don't drink and Drive!

The Paloma—often made with store bought grapefruit soda—is Mexicos most popular cocktail. This fancified version uses grilled fresh grapefruit and grilled lime to give the drink a slightly smoky edge.

YIELD: Makes 2 drinks

  • 1 medium to large yellow or pink grapefruit, halved
  • 2 limes, halved
  • Kosher salt or coarse sea salt, for the glass
  • Ice
  • 4 ounces (1/2 cup) tequila
  • 1 ounce agave nectar or simple syrup (see Note)
  • 2 ounces club soda

Light a grill and arrange it for direct heat or preheat a grill pan. Grill the grapefruit and the limes over high heat until well browned on the bottoms, 4 to 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.

Arrange some salt on a small plate. Moisten the rims of 2 high ball glasses and coat with salt.

For each cocktail: Fill a shaker with ice and add 2 ounces of squeezed grapefruit juice, 1 ounce of squeezed lime juice, 2 ounces tequila and ½ ounce agave nectar. Close the shaker and shake well. Fill one of the prepared glasses with ice and strain the drink into the glasses. Top with 1 ounce of club soda and serve. Fill the shaker with clean ice to make the second cocktail.

note:To make simple syrup: In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water over moderately high heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool slightly. Measure out 1/2 cup for this recipe and reserve the rest for another use.

What Is The Perfect Wedding Shoe

I saw this ad in an email I was sent "Wedding Shoes" shop now online. I began to think about what is a perfect shoe? What is it that woman look for in a shoe?  What makes are feet look beautiful? We woman want to look beautiful on our wedding day! It is the only day we try to make things perfect!

First, perfection is different for every woman! That means to some a simplistic wedding is perfection to others it is every detail in place! Large sums of money spent and follow all traditions. For me personally, since my father had passed away it was a church wedding with a church reception. No fancy dinner, no dance, just a college student getting married to her college graduate. My grandfather wasn't capable of walking me down the isle, sink had to ask my brother-in-law. He also sang "The Lord's Prayer" at our wedding. We dated since I was in high school. I have no regrets it was perfection to me. All a memory now.

I do remember when I was shopping for shoes how difficult it was. How do you pick a shoe to match a wedding dress. The last thing you want is blisters on your feet on your wedding day. That matches the dress. That make you feel like you can wear them all day and all night.

1. Comfort over looks rule! You'll be wearing them all day and all night.

2. Cost. This is where I think most woman don't think about. The average wedding shoe or proper shoe will run 10-15% of the cost of your wedding dress.

3. Fabric. The average wedding shoe is silk or satin. However, if you grew up with a dad like I had it was a beautiful hand crafted leather. Many come with embellishment. Many of my brides are wearing sandals (flip/flops) These are most appropriate for beach weddings or for dancing after the ceremony.

4. Dress Fitting: You will have to have your shoes before your dress fitting. The dress is hemmed according to the hight of your shoe.

5. Heel height, sexy heels or versatile flats?
What type of shoe do you want? You don't have to change your shoe style for your wedding day. Stick to what you normally wear!

6. Destination wedding! Consider the season! Will it be a beach wedding or winter wedding. Flip flops, sandals, or wedges are fine for the beach ankle boots or booties are perfect for winter weddings.

7. Dance or No Dance? This is important, why? The souls of the shoes and the ability to move in them can help or hurt you on the dance floor.

8. Do you want to wear the shoes again? Personally, I think it's a lot of money spent if your not going to wear them again. I wore my wedding shoes many times. It was one of the best investments I made! It was made with lots of love, determination and respect of what my father had taught me about shoes.

Does the Lion Eat the Bird or the Bird the Lion

Mother' Day after your child (son) is called to meet Jesus in Heaven and yes I mean Jesus Christ. ( If this offends then don't read anymore and I won't offend you!) just isn't Mother's Day! It's not the same!

How can one explain the love a mom has for her Children? Should she have to? The desire to be away from everyone this Mother's Day  was intense. I went to a hotel in a town I new no-one and spent the weekend just thinking about what his life would be like.

What would it have bee like if he would of been able to:

Continue his career path and save enough money to purchase a home?

I was so happy he had finished off school debt.

If men would of understood I had already lost two children in miscarriage would the Gods have shown mercy and grace to my living children?

Would Dustin have had children of his own?

Would he have married a woman of grace or one who lacked it?

Would  he have known love?

Would he have been successful?

Would I have grandchildren?

A home filled with love?

Would I be with him celebrating Mother's Day? Birthdays? Christmas? Birthdays? Fathers Day?

Did God denie him the right to be a Father?

Who do I blame?

That's why I thanked all the sons for taking me away for the weekend on tweet yesterday! Does the mother of this young man exist?

Shopping is a distraction from the reality...pain is when you know that the people that wanted didn't hamage the woman who was helping them succeed. Reality is knowing you know the difference. Acceptance is not complaining how much you miss the time you spend together! Tolerance is asking those that are cause you pain to STOP, they got It all there is nothing left of the person they desire!

Hope in 2020!
