Men of Integrity Part 5

Hi there, Diamond Glamour Girls;

Love and B are just being their pre-marital counseling.  B is excited about all the possibilities of being a wife, while Love is feeling all the pressure and responsibility of becoming a husband.  Why do you think they are on opposite sides of the beginning of their marriage?  Are men mad more responsible than women in their marriage?  Maybe women see marriage as all the great and wonderful things in life.  God’s best so to speak.  Do men see themselves as Gods best when they are individuals.  All of these questions are what counseling helps address.  It also helps the couple transitions from singlehood to married couple.  A good counsel helps the couple define their roles as individual, within the marriage and allow the person to become who they really are and want to become.

Love arrived at Pasto B’s office at 4:30 right on time.  They went through all the normal formalities when you are meeting another person.

Pastor B: “Shall we get to the reason you are here?”

Love:  “Sure.”

Pastor B:  “Did you bring your Bible?  Here is the workbook I want you to go through with me.  B already received hers.  As you can see it will take us several weeks to go through the workbook.  The workbook is divided in several sections.  The beginning it is discovering what God expects of you, as a man of God, what he expects of you as a Husband.  We will talk about some of it; for other parts of it will we will be with other couples getting married.  We want you to feel a part of our church and have friends to fellowship with as a couple.

Let’s start with Integrity.  What do you think it means?

Love: That my actions and my words are the same.

Pastor B:  Let’s look at what God says about integrity Gen: 20: 5 “Did he not say to me. “ She is my sister? And she even she herself said, ‘He is my brother’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.”   What do you think this verse means?
“In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility” Titus 2:7
Both of these verses play a big part in a marriage. It is important to know them and to have them as a part of who you are.  B will demand them and she should.  I would like you to send time this week thinking about what integrity means in today’s world.  How would you apply this today?  Work life? Marriage?  Family life?  Also in planning your wedding.

Love:  This is so much to deal with.  I am not sure, what you’re asking for.  Do I have to think about this all the time? Are you asking me to talk to everyone about “Integrity”?

Health Eating for St. Paddy's Day!

4 Ways to Eat Green This St. Paddy’s Day
Don’t limit your “greens” consumption this month to cabbage and that sketchy dyed green brew at the local pub.  There are other options that are positive saintly, health wise. Nyree Dardarian, RD, nutrition science faculty at Drexel University, offers four tasty alternatives.  Stephanie Eckelkamp
  •              Edamame:  These easy to pop soybeans are loaded with more than 100% of your RDA of foliate, which is essential for making red blood cells and many prevent DNA damage that could lead to cancer. Toss cooked, shelled edamame into your next salad.

  • .      Bok Choy:  Cooked Bok Choy contains 13% of your RDA of calcium and has a light, sweet flavor finely chopped leaves and sauté with onion, garlic and ginger in a little oil.  Toss with cooked rice noodles for a healthy Asian-style entrée.

  • .         Brussels Sprouts:  While low in calories, sprouts are also a good source of fiber which helps maintain satiety. They’re also part of the cruciferous vegetable family, known for its cancer-preventing properties. Trim the ends, quarter, and sauté in oil with onions and garlic.

  •            Parsley:  While often used as a garnish, fresh parsley can supply you with a good dose of plant iron when eaten in larger quatities-1cup contains around 20% of your RDA. Add parsley to a green smoothie or enjoy it in a classic tabbouleh salad.

  •       Not the traditional St. Paddy’s Day food, but it is a healthy alternative.  Thank you to Prevention Magazine for the information.

Marriage?  Family life?  Also in planning your wedding.

Love:  This is so much to deal with.  I am not sure, what you’re asking for.  Do I have to think about this all the time? Are you asking me to talk to everyone about “Integrity”?

Pastor B:  If you have to.  Mainly I am asking you to think about what it means to you.  The Bible really talks about the things God expects from us.  Now there are many who expect things from us.  From listening to you talk.  The wedding plans have just begun to show you all the expectations your fiancée you Mother in law and even your own mom are expecting you.  What you haven’t addressed is what are the dads expecting from you?  What does your boss expect from you?  Do you have expectations from your co-worker?  Are there any expectations from your friends?  Expectations are endless in life, but what is it that you expect from yourself?  What I want to give you is a “Rule Book” a “Guidelines” something that all the answers to the questions you may be asking, or may not be asking.

Today is the beginning of a new way of looking at your life.  Next week I will meet with both of you.  B, you and me so that we can discuss the answers to the questions in the book that deals with the scriptures verses I just gave you.  I would like you to understand, B already received them I asked her not to discuss them with you until we meet.  I am asking you the same thing.
