Filling the world.

Hi there,

I was just reading a daily devotional, one of many I read throughout the day. This one hit hard. Why? This year I lost my 27 year old in an unexpected and rather sudden death, November 12, 2014, his name Dustin Kamon.

Filling the world, He lies in a manger!
Augustine

I started thinking about this quote. "Filling the world." If Mary the mother of Jesus knew her child was born to for-fill the prophesy did she at any time think of it as filling the world?

Does any big preacher think of himself as being born to fill the world? Do any of their mothers (preacher mother) think of their child as being born to for-fill the world? I say No!

A mothers heart in this case would be different than a mans. The thought of a baby, being responsible for the world just hours old is an overwhelming thought. Having experienced losing a child is knowing that I was only blessed with his presences for a time, twenty-seven years to be exact. It was a short time in today's lifespan. Twenty-seven years. Jesus himself lived longer. Do you think I would have chosen this for my "son". Do sons get persecuted just because they are
born? Male? Called "son"? And their mom believes in the bible and bible study?

Who is to judge why things happen the way they do? I just know that if I would have known that his life span was so short I would have spent my life trying to stop it from happening. Now, when I think of Mary, I don't see her as an overprotective mother. She lets Jesus do what he needs to do. She does take care of him, part of that is allowing him to mature. She didn't always like the choices he made, arguing with him, even in public.

I do believe in today's world we do have to protect our children more than in the time of Jesus. The times are different. What I do know is because we understand more, we expect more. Therefore, we act in a manner that is appropriate to our lifestyle. Mary had some pretty difficult circumstances. When we look at it through our modern world it seems impossible. The truth is if Mary came into our world today, would she think that our lives were more or less difficult than hers? Augustine quote imply  it was known the world was given to an infant. At the moment of birth the baby carried the world.

Could Mary of the bible cope with Modernism,  Abuse, and today's poverty? Would she be fired into unemployment? Hunger? Pocerty? Was Mary really poor? Was she
Employed? I believe all the woman in the bible were employed. Maybe it wasn't called that, they has specific jobs to do!

Would Mary today make the choice to have Jesus be born? With medical advances and technology being what it is, would she have made the same choice?  If, so would she let him live out that life or would she use every thing she could to influence him? To try to stop it? I ask my own self, if I thought Dustin was "Jesus Christ" would I have chosen to give birth to Him? The answer is: I don't know. That kind of knowledge is overwhelming and I thank, my God and Lord I didn't have it! For it is only Him, that can carry that responsibly. Praise, Him it's all written down for use to understand.
